Have been using this in my 75g freshwater planted aquarium for almost 4 years Connect a CO2 tank solenoid valve to this as CO2 will lower the pH. Personally I don't even use a diffuser, I let the air line flow to the inlet of the canister filter. As long as the bubble rate is kept at a reasonable level, the CO2 will remain in the tank long enough to fully dissipate. However, after a recent cleaning of the filter, burping occurs from time to time as the flow rate through the filter has improved significantly.
