Review on Rancho RS999295 RS9000XL Series Shock by Will Ridpath

2010 Suburban 2500 4x4

I bought these for my 2010 Suburban 2500 4x4 to better handle towing my 29 foot Airstream camper trailer. I am very happy with my purchase and just drove 1800 miles from Arizona to Minnesota. Rebound is the most noticeable improvement over the stock shocks - as soon as you hit a hill or dip, the truck straightens up immediately. With a tongue weight of 600+, this was not the case with stock shocks. Another improvement is the increased suspension travel at the rear. When towing with stock shocks, the rear wheels had minimal travel, making the tow ride stiff and uncomfortable. Now it's all gone - everything is nice and smooth. I hardly notice that the Airstream is behind me. Eventually, Rancho helps rock the trailer. I don't get much of an impact with my setup, but when I do I'm glad the Rancho is there and I can definitely tell the difference with stock dampers. I set the damper adjuster to maximum and then reduced it by one notch front and rear. This setup works fine when I'm not towing.
