Review on Western Digital WD5000AAKS: The High-Capacity 500GB Hard Drive You Need by Minoru Izaki ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value for money, I recommend.

Native hard drive in Lenovo C260 monoblock, model WD5000AAKX-003CA0. Over the years, it has become faulty: the computer is terribly slow and periodically crashes into BSoD! The HDD itself howls unpleasantly! On 09/25/2022, I bought a DEXP AT-HA006 docking station and connected it to it, and the station to my native Lenovo C260 monoblock, from which this screw was removed. Next, I upgraded the monoblock, transferring it to the classic scheme of work: on SSD - Windows, HDD - storage. The screw returned to its regular place, and the SSD was installed in the sled. For both devices, I simply swapped the connecting cords on the motherboard, because the sled doesn’t give a damn what SATA is connected to them, and these connections are caused only by the design features of the monoblock case. After this connection, everything began to work much, however, the HDD remained noisy, but it began to warm up less! On October 25, 2022, I checked it with the Victoria app. What was my surprise when not a single bad sector was found on it, and after all, being a carrier, it was terribly slow and dropped into BSoD. Using the docking station, I scanned it for viruses and found 15 malware. The operating time for September 2022 is more than 16 thousand hours. A similar screw is also on one of my old desktops from 2022 with a Gigabyte motherboard. Model WD5000AAKX-00ERMA0. It is very capricious: if some applications are pointed at it, in particular from IObit, it simply refuses to load completely. It will boot up to a bare desktop and you won’t wait for a taskbar or icons in 100 years! On November 12, 2022, this is how it happened: I was able to install Windows 10 on the SSD on the desktop, which made it possible to put the screw to rest as a database!

Pros
  • The reliability of this device!
Cons
  • Noisy and warm. No wonder, because since 2022 it has been plowing! Even by the standards of 2022, 500 GB is not too big!

Has pros: Quiet, cold, not so fast, but I'm fine Cons: No. And those who write that the disk is bad and all that . Maybe you got a bad batch

I do not advise you to set it as a system one. 3 years of work.

With its pros. Fast, no vibration, 3 year warranty. Its cons: Heats up to 43 degrees, makes noise at the level of 1000rpm fan

Some pros: All advantages are crossed out by a short service life. Cons: Worked for 10 months, then started clicking at startup

They stopped making quality CDs. When there is a high percentage of defects, I cannot consider the product to be of high quality. Artificial obsolescence . Two more of the same work in hp compaq pro 6300 monoblocks - I'll make copies of the data.
