Review on DROK Super Small 3W+3W DC 5V Audio Amplifier πŸ”Š Module Board Dual-Channel PAM8403 Stereo Amplifiers for DIY Portable with Potentiometer by Korey Stein

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An excellent, inexpensive, compact stereo amplifier module for an inexpensive portable speaker or headphones. Can't beat the value!

This device delivers 3W into 4 ohms per channel at 10% THD. This is by no means premium, but good enough for most boombox/portable speaker applications. The group volume control appears to be smooth and has a detent in the fully counterclockwise off position. I'm sure this quality item accounts for most of the actual cost of the device. I used USB power supply. I broke the wire on an old mouse by touching the red and black leads (+ and - respectively) to get 5V. WARNING: The recommended maximum operating voltage of the PAM 8408 (from Diodes Semiconductor) is 5.5 volts at maximum load capacitance. from 6th c. It is therefore NOT recommended to run it with 4 AA alkaline batteries without putting at least 1 diode in series to reduce the voltage a bit. (Be sure to use a diode that is safe to conduct 750mA). Also note that the manufacturer recommends NOT turning the unit on unless the speaker loads are already connected. When I plug it into my line out on a Dell 4550 with a SoundBlaster LIVE sound card, we get nice room-filling surround sound. It also worked well with some of the speakers when connected to my iPhone (although the "Hells Bells" AC/DC didn't have as much bass as I would have liked without cranking up the EQ settings ). I think it's a good choice for customization. a small pair of battery powered or USB powered portable speakers for your phone, MP3 player or similar application. I expect it will work reasonably well with 60 ohm headphones, although I haven't tried that myself.
