I also have a Mercedes SL (2003). I actually measured these cabin filters before I started taking my car apart to install them. They looked great and fit snugly in the cavities. Then problems started and I couldn't get the lids off properly. After an hour of frustration, I found that the thin plastic tab at the bottom of the filter had come loose about 1.5 millimeters. It did not match the mutual groove on the cover. Luckily, I was able to easily trim the crest with a utility knife without losing much blood.
