This is a pretty reliable hair straightener considering the price. One of my biggest issues with cheaper hair straighteners is that the plates are generally not smooth and you can feel them snagging on your hair, basically they often don't glide like they should. However, I didn't have that problem with this one and it slipped easily through my hair. It feels good in the hand and feels comfortable in the hand. Temperature is adjustable from 300F to 450F and heats up in about a minute. It has an auto shutoff after 60 minutes, which is quite a long shutoff time, but at least it's built-in. The control button is on the inside, which I always prefer as it prevents me from accidentally pressing the button. button as I use it. The only downside to this is that it's not designed to create curls or waves like most straighteners these days. Its form makes it incapable of doing so. But overall I'm satisfied.
