This coat has lasted us one spring and now it's fall. It is quite thick so not ideal as a raincoat in warm or hot weather. However, for cold spring and autumn days or warm winter days, this is the perfect coat. It's waterproof and has served us well at football games for the past month or two. It was very durable. As he lay on the tarmac, he scratched his back a little, but when he got caught on a thorny branch of a rosebush, the jacket was not damaged at all. And that's after his brother tugged at his coat while we yelled "Noooooooo!" as we tried to get there before that little brat - er, brother - caught him. Thanks to the Velcro, the hood keeps its shape. It doesn't tighten, but it doesn't have to because the chin guard secures it to the lower part of the face. I want the collar and chin guard to be connected so the cold breeze doesn't get in between and chill his neck. But he used the pockets to store gloves, acorns, and stones. The combination of blue and red is very attractive and looks classy. The length is perfect too. We bought a size 9/10 for a 7 year old and it fits just right for sleeve length, torso length, sleeves, width etc. Already planning to pass it on to my little brother when he grows up. Great coat!
