Review on 🐱 SunGrow Cat Litter Aluminum Alloy Scoop: Wall Mount, Wide & Deep Shovel, Gray, 14 x 5.6-Inches, 1-Pack by Christine Vargas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

For an extra dollar (or five) you can go first class.

I ordered this "non-stick" cat litter scoop which I have returned. It's heavy, but the metal handle only goes halfway over the plastic handle sleeve. If you held it all the way, it made the shovel swing. This gives you a lot less control and is therefore more likely to cause clumps (I use clumpy litter) to break up into small pieces. It also causes the shovel to tip over when trying to dig up hardened pieces of debris. I ordered a Durascoop cat litter scoop (also from Revain) to replace this and that goes the metal all the way to the plastic handle which gives me plenty. more control. A good analogy here would be comparing Durascoop to a full tang knife and this to a half tang knife. Although both this and Durascoop are advertised as "non-stick," the metal on them isn't as smooth as the Durascoop cat litter scoop. While admittedly no scoop is truly "nonstick," Durascoop comes much closer to that ideal. It has an almost mirror-like surface that makes it easier for wet putty to slide off. This *non-stick* scoop from Sungrow attracts almost as much sticky litter as my cheap plastic scoop due to the rougher surface of the metal. The Durascoop cost seems like a big difference until you look at the actual dollar difference which is $5. I can't tell you what $5 should mean to you. From my point of view, the $5 difference for a much higher quality shovel you will always have seems like a good compromise between cost and benefit. That's about a cup of delicious Starbucks coffee. In a month you will forget the cost difference.
