If you have never had experience with this, be very careful. First watch some videos on You Tube. I used it for a paring knife and even though I followed the instructions in the letter I felt like I was going to cut my finger off. I can't understand the need to make a longer blade. You have to hold it in one hand as it's not on the table. I'm sure it's easy if you've done it before.
