Review on ๐Ÿ Fluker's Premium Heat Mat: Ideal Heating Solution for Reptiles and Amphibians, Large Size 17"x11 by Tanya Gutierrez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I think I like the idea of โ€‹โ€‹using bubble wrap and cardboard.

I bought two of these large mats for my 40 gallon breeding cage for a pair of king snakes. It seems they have updated the instructions, nowhere does it say to use foam for installation. It just means simply taping the edges of the mat to the bottom of the tank with packing tape (not tape). I think I like the idea of using bubble wrap and cardboard on the bottom to retain more heat. I also have two controllers for my mats, one for the hot side of the tank and one for the cool side, hot side should be 85F and cold side 75F for Arizona Mountain King Snakes. With these mats I can choose exactly. I also installed a heat mat (different brand) on my tarantula cage and it can handle 85F. I placed a heat mat under the tank and then took the remote thermostat for my controller and taped it to the inside of the bottom of the tank right in the middle of the heat mat before putting the substrate on. I also use a temperature alarm system that goes off if the temperature gets too high or too low. So if the controller or the heating mat fails and gets too hot or too cold, I get an alarm. I installed an alarm system on both sides of the tank. Here's a link to the alarm if you're interested: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M9T7ZF8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02
