Review on 🚽 Enhance Your Toilet's Elegance with Fluidmaster 698 Universal Premium Toilet Tank Lever in Brushed Nickel: Contemporary, Adjustable Arm Toilet Handle by Paul Walton

Projected square pin in round hole

Never thought I would write a review on a toilet handle but over-engineering led to this review. I understand the attempt to make it "universal", but the simple tried and true lever toilet handle with this knot has become too complex. Installed on a standard toilet bowl with a handle mounted on the front of the tank (not the side). Issues: 1. The lock nut assembly (the part that goes through the hole in the toilet handle) has a square mating surface. The opening of the toilet bowl has a round (oval) hole. Square spigot in round hole, doesn't fit. Solution: File the corners of the square counter to round it off a bit (it's plastic). I had to abandon the square fitting gasket and not use it (because it's square). So much for a versatile fit.2. Once installed, the handle protrudes about 1-5/8" (41mm) from the tank. Looks nice (a little big), but the main problem is that when you lift the toilet seat lid, the top of the lid with the handle sticking out comes into contact. Over time, the toilet handle itself or the top of the toilet seat can be scratched/damaged by repeatedly raising/lowering the lid. Time will tell. Generally speaking, it looks good, the mechanism clearly works and does its job (both for your "Events" #1 and #2), but it has its drawbacks.

Pros
  • Rough plumbing
Cons
  • Poor repairability
