Review on πŸ’‘ Ecosmart 23-Watt CFL Light Bulb (4-Pack): Energy-Efficient Soft White Bulbs - 100W Equivalent by Michael Long

Nice color but too big for the lampshade

Recently I bought a lot of lightbulbs. I looked at many CFLs to find the right color temperature and wattage. What I didn't realize was that the Sylvanias are nice and stocky while these Ecosmarts are medium length and Feits are tall and long and all have the same wattage. That was the difference between fitting into my lamp without touching the lampshade and not. In addition, there is such a tiny inscription on Ecosmart that without taking out the light bulb and looking closely, you cannot tell how much electricity is in the lamp. Both other stamps are labeled better. Also keep in mind that the Ecosmart 23w is more than twice the length and width of its 14w. I wouldn't understand that as the length isn't listed and the old style bulbs were basically the same size. BTW the Feit 200w (42w) equivalent is over 7 inches long! It will not fit in any shielded lamp or harp. I don't know why they say it goes with everything except a wall lamp or a flashlight. In terms of colour, fluorescent lamps with a color temperature of over 5000K are too bright white for domestic use in my opinion. It has a bluish tint that makes everything look washed out and sick. It might be fine in a photo studio, but not in a living room or for a reading lamp. I've found that I like "soft white" bulbs at 2700K and 3000K. Anything below 2700 looks like a lightbulb with a yellow tint that is unflattering to read and more taxing on the eyes. Now I've got a closet full of useless lightbulbs and a few winners. I hope this helps others avoid the same fate!

Pros
  • Light Appearance: 2700K (soft white)
Cons
  • Doubt
