Save time and just buy the cheap Combo Square, it just came out of the box and it rubs way more than the cheap one I got and it doesn't work. I have a matte finish that I wanted, like the picture. In a way, I could care less about it being perfectly square when assembling cabinets and setting up machines. I've never used combo squares because they always get or are a little skinny, so a larger non-combination square is much better. . The beauty of a 6-inch tool like this is that it's great for marking soffits, marking lines at predetermined locations, or checking workpiece thickness and blade height on saws. With a hard-to-read blade, a terrible leveling bubble, and grinding the slide and head out of the box, this is a total disappointment in a tool for what these things are worth. I have a few other Starrett tools that are great, but compared to other options it's like setting my money on fire. Just my 2 cents
