Quality, durability, precision! In great condition and arrived quickly!

This is a Christmas present for my brother. He needed this Starrett because the one he was using at the store he works at was constantly out of order. It impresses with its quality, precision, weight, feel in the hand and the material and last but not least its extreme durability. If you don't know which brand to choose as a gift, or you're just starting to need such tools, Starrett is your "man"!

A square is a square

Need to make sure it's square? This will definitely help. I bought the 6" and wish I had the 12" too. Good quality, easy to assemble and disassemble when needed. It is rectangular and ready to use. Expensive, yes I could buy a cheap depot. Yes. Have you ever worked on something only to realize something was wrong and had to spend more time fixing it? Yes. That's why I bought this. Save time and effort and invest in precision tools.

Bad Starrett in Carpentry Squares

Not square. I've tried a number of 'known' good squares and this one is about 1/32" longer. I won't bother getting a replacement. Will go with another brand. Hey Starrett, can you say quality control? iGaging based on reviews. No luck here either. It was "square" but an inch was NOT an inch from the end of the rule. Next go back and get another MFG. Ordered from PEC and spent some more. It's in everyone Accurate and smooth as glass, that's the way it should be.

There is no comparison to Starrett's combined square.

I was running for a good combo quad because I was finally getting bored of my cheap little Harbor Freight quad. Wow. I would have bought this many years ago if I had known how good this tool is. Accuracy Accuracy Accuracy. Every detail of this instrument is perfect. Perfect dimensions, perfect 45 degree angle, perfectly square, easy to tighten, just flip the ruler, scribe pin fits perfectly in place, alignment bubble is accurate. This tool has absolutely no downsides. However, keep it in an…

Buyers beware the best measuring and marking tools

I've had other Starret products and I have to say this one doesn't fit me. Firstly, the glossy finish is difficult to read and on the one I received, after six months I developed vertical streaks which can be seen in the attached photos. These grooves are similar in size to factory engraved lines, making them very difficult to read. I contacted the seller and they basically told me I have 30 days to replace it. Well, at this price I didn't expect to face such a defect in a couple of months. I…

Total waste of money

Save time and just buy the cheap Combo Square, it just came out of the box and it rubs way more than the cheap one I got and it doesn't work. I have a matte finish that I wanted, like the picture. In a way, I could care less about it being perfectly square when assembling cabinets and setting up machines. I've never used combo squares because they always get or are a little skinny, so a larger non-combination square is much better. . The beauty of a 6-inch tool like this is that it's great for…

Beautiful combination scarf in pocket size.

This is a very handy little combination box. It's the perfect size to fit in my pocket so I can always have it handy to check a measurement or make a quick mark. A spirit level and scriber are built into the handle, but I didn't use them much. I prefer to use my spirit level or pocket marker because that's how my brain works. I haven't used many brands of combo squares but I can tell you they are way better than the imperial ones you can buy at your local store. But you get what you pay for…

Smaller than you might expect

I already had a couple of large Starretts and decided I couldn't resist buying the small 6 inch Starrett. I like the exact little mini Starrett, although I will have a limited number of occasions to use it. I am including photos to illustrate how amazingly small this mini Starrett is. In particular, note that the larger Starrett has blades that are 1" wide, while the mini Starrett has a blade that is only 3/4" wide - just so you know what to expect. Edit: I've been using the Mini-Starrett for a

An invaluable tool for measuring and marking tools

I made this purchase after making a mistake assembling the box due to an obtuse combo angle and breaking the rule of triple checking measurements before proceeding had violated. It's not something I would have bought a few years ago and it's not a tool anyone should invest in. If your job doesn't require precision (2x4 cutting, general building, etc.) you can spend $15 on a combo square and it'll be fine. On the other hand, if you are interested in woodworking projects, this is an investment…
