Not much is noticeable at first glance. I did a lot of research AFTER the purchase because it was an impulse buy. And to be honest, it works as advertised, but not in the way people would hope. It smooths and definitely increases the resolution. Using my Nintendo Switch on 720p+mclassic is almost identical to 1080p without mclassic AND almost identical to 1080p+mclassic. Unfortunately for my scenario, it is. It will not be scaled to 2k or 4k. And that's me personally. So change ownership, read on. The reason I (and maybe you too) didn't notice or had any luck with 2k/4k is a major factor (and another minor one, read on). Like me, many people buy and adopt without doing any research. Well, here is some important information. mclassic only outputs the maximum that both the HDMI cable and the TV support. Now my TV supports 4k and not 2k. This is a known issue for many consumers. If your TV doesn't support 2k or 4K, this will NOT upscale your switcher. ALSO, if you use a standard Nintendo HDMI cable (included with the switch), this cable ONLY supports MAXIMUM 1080P@60HZ. Even with a 2k TV/monitor it will NOT run at 2k using a Nintendo cable. So, key points. Your display and HDMI cable must support the output you want to use. Since my TV doesn't support 2k, it won't skip the resolution and go from 1k to 4k. It will only stay at the 1k level. Now one more important detail. If you KNOW your TV actually supports 2K AND you have the right HDMI cable, then you're missing an important setup. You MUST enable a setting for Deep Color (as it's called on LG TVs) on your display which includes 4:2:0 4:2:2 and I believe 4:4:4. This will enable the 2k resolution setting on the display. The same applies here: If you don't do this with a proper HDMI cable and NOT with a standard Nintendo Switch HDMI cable, it won't work. Again, the key points are: - The HDMI cable for the switcher must be a 4k+ cable - The display must support a 2k resolution (some 4k displays don't support it, like my Lg TV. Only supports 1k+4k , not 2k) - the display must contain some form of deep color. If you don't have these three factors, it won't work the way you hope. That being said, with my setting of only using 1080p with enhancements, it looks and feels smoother (like the refresh rate is higher), which really helps me. But to be honest, it's not a $100 job. Max $60. And even for those without 2k support, it should be $40 just for the 1080p boost. I have no doubt that Marciel will invent something to help with this or move away from this model like he did with the mcable series. However, this product works and is great if you have the right setup. And even for those without 2k support, it should be $40 just for the 1080p boost.
