Review on Dorman 55300 HELP Fuel Tether by Michael Wilson

I installed this on my Subaru Outback Limited 05 when the native latch broke near the fuel filler door. It works - snapped around the lid, locked the other side in the door, no problem. However, unlike the original holder, the metal ring is difficult to rotate around the gas cap, and the length of the strap is a little short. It is fully functional - I was able to open the fuel door and lock and unlock the lid. However, because the metal ring doesn't rotate, it pulls on the strap when you unscrew the cap, which adds extra drag and pulls a bit on the gas cap. I ended up just attaching the original bracket by melting each broken end together with a soldering iron and then sealing the joint with heat shrink tubing. If it breaks again I will replace it with an OEM fixer. I'll keep it on hand as a backup though, just in case.
