I've been using this for over a month now, and my puppy has consistently used it to tell me if he needs to go out to potty (though of course sometimes he hits it just to be outside for a bit).While it works well and is durable (not even the paint has stripped off), I think the top part can be bigger and the rubber bottom can be heavier/grippier. The part that your pet is supposed to hit should be bigger, as my lab would miss it half the time; though with more use and training, he has become more and more accurate. The rubber bottom isn't sufficient enough to stay in place, as it's easy for my puppy to push it around and knock it over; placing it in a corner helps but doesn't wholly prevent this issue.
