The material is soft, stretchy and thicker than regular cotton pajamas. At first glance, after opening the packaging, the pants seemed too big. The waistband of the pants is very wide and covers most of my child's upper body, which seemed strange at first. However, I decided I like it because it covers her waist even when she's moving and active. The actual length of the pants from crotch to ankle is a great fit and the top fits as expected too. This is a great base for kids. I will buy more for my other children.
