This is a great addition to your home.

My mother-in-law's car was recently stolen from her garage. She's from the generation that grew up thinking that you don't have to lock your front door when you go out (yes, I know, but you're trying to change an octogenarian's mind). She left the garage open and the smart key in the car! Well, she borrowed my car until the insurance company paid her rent and she rented another new car. While we waited for all of this, I checked the security of her home and made a list of the changes that needed to be made. Some of these changes were intended to replace the existing front door lock sets, both the entry set and deadbolt. Two years ago we installed a new fiberglass door in our own home and it was a huge improvement over a 60 year old door. On the new door we have upgraded the locks with the new Kwikset electronic lock and deadbolt to match. We were so excited about this setup that when I ordered the locks for my mother-in-law I got her matching Kwikset electronic entry and mortise locks. In our house the deadbolt is an electronic lock but as there were holes drilled in my mother in law's front door I decided to do the front door with an electronic lock as it fit better. and she only ever used the front lock to lock her door when she was home (she didn't even do that until her husband died recently). New locks replaced locks from incompatible brands; I actually checked all the locks in her house and updated them to the new quicksets so now she only needs one key to open every door in her house! Well, Kwikset locks came with everything you need for installation and the new SmartKey key changing feature on the new Kwikset locks made it much easier to reinstall the deadbolt to match the entrance lock set. The new set of electronic locks is fairly well made, easy to install and program, and the price is very affordable. The brushed nickel finish also looks elegant on her 1960s front door. I really like what Kwikset has done with their new lock settings. And if you're thinking we should have bought a much more expensive set of locks, think about it: Sure, there are brands that are much more durable, but the only time one of my homes was robbed, Kwiksets didn't let me down , the villains smashed down a steel door and Quixet's bolts ripped a chunk out of the wall! It is true that the locks never broke, the "royal rivet”, the "hot rivet”, molding and drywall - everything did not fail. So go ahead, spend a few hundred bucks on another group of big-name castles. If someone wants to enter, they will most likely either kick in the door or enter through one of your windows. These Kwikset lock sets really are all you need to secure your home.
