I bought two of these monitors and they both have the same weird problem. Whenever they turn on or turn on after falling asleep, they're in a weird mode where the display quality (especially for text) is mediocre. Text (whether black on white or white on black) has a rainbow effect. It looks like the monitor is not properly synchronized or some other signal conversion is not applied. I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 with DisplayPort (with cables from two different brands) and haven't tried other connections. To fix the problem I go to the menu and switch the ViewMode to a different setting (which fixes the problem) and then back to the correct ViewMode. Apparently this "wakes up" some aspect of the monitor's firmware and the signal is displayed correctly. After working properly, the monitors perform as expected for the price.
