Review on Skywin Glass Stand Compatible Constellation by Daniel Drury

Does the job but room for improvement

I came to VR and didn't want to wall mount my base stations so I started looking for stands. These were pretty much the only racks that became available fairly quickly so despite the mixed reviews I went with them. I've been using them for a few months now and feel I can rate them appropriately. CONSTRUCTION QUALITY: These are definitely pretty cheap frames. Assembly is easy enough, although as others have pointed out, the instructions are pretty poor. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble the two racks. The base itself is pretty solid, but the stand is very light and cheap. It definitely needed heavier material - and maybe a wider stand would have made sense as any slight movement would make the stand wobble a bit. In my case this isn't a problem as I have carpeted floors and don't go near the bleachers in my play area, but I can definitely see this as a problem with hardwood floors if you get close to the base stations while playing. The hinge mount is also fairly flimsy and doesn't feel particularly secure, although I haven't had any issues with the base stations slowly sagging over time. I wish there was some sort of cable organizer in the stands. I ended up just using some black zip ties to keep everything level, but since they're advertised as base station stands it might be a good idea to add a few small clips to keep everything tidy. Overall 3/5 USE: Despite my complaints about the build quality, I haven't had any issues with the stands since I assembled them. The hinge mechanism, while cheap, still holds up well. Nothing accidentally fell apart and didn't collapse. I really wish they were a bit bigger - a different stand would be nice - although that would only make it more unstable and probably more prone to "wiggling" with any movement. Having had no problems with this, 5/5 GENERAL: Considering the limited options available for what I was looking for, which is two proper stands to support my small footprint base stations so they can be hidden. to the corners of the room - they do their job. They're definitely cheap and I wouldn't recommend them if you plan on using them on hardwood floors or pounding while playing as I don't think they stay perfectly still with the vibrations that can hit the ground, but they don't for carpets I had no problems with the playground. The quality of the materials definitely needs improvement, especially considering the price, as well as clearer assembly instructions.
