I picked the size based on the measurements provided and it was way too large in every direction. I put tucks in it to improve the fit because I liked the pattern and bought it to go with a specific pair of pants and a sweater. Plus I had gotten it to wear for a specific reason. Otherwise, I would have returned it and gotten a smaller size. 5'5, 138# and the XL was gigantic.
