Great shoes - but remember your technique

I train in karate - an independent dojo with Kyokushin roots, fight once a week and play flatbread with a heavy bag about once a week in between. So far I've used standard "dyed foam" sneakers and a pair of fabric knee pads. Works well but the beats are clumsy and may last a year or two. I got to a point in training where I realized I was going to do this for as long as my body would allow, so spending $30 a year on something clumsy and disposable looked silly. I bought these and they are excellent quality and much lighter than I would have guessed based on their thickness. I haven't had a problem with knee limitations as some have pointed out - I'm 5ft 6" and neither muscular nor lean. The mobility and the design are excellent. Kicks are performed with the top of the foot. There is no heel padding. So if you allow ax strikes, hook strikes / ura mawashi geri in sparring, you must maintain tight control. can stab with the foot blade for side kicks. So absolutely excellent for what they do but unfortunately limiting when you use some moves. If they only (or decent shin/leg guards!) Likewise if you're a Muay Thai fighter, these things probably work like a dream.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not everything fits
