The flat head wasn't flat at all. It was so uneven and full of anomalies that it would have been difficult to use it for flat sheet metal. The casting of the head was probably ground down for finishing, but that gave me the impression that it was done quickly and imprecisely. The handle seemed solid, as did the socket head, but I'll never know how well the head will hold onto the handle because I don't know how to use this hammer. I returned it. The price is too high for a really poorly made tool.
