Yes it is very light because it is very thin and not at all what I expected. I chose this one because of the good reviews, but now I know why there are so many photos of animals using it. I got much better quality at Walmart and I expected more from this "quilt". It's very soft, which I like, but too thin. I'm afraid of ever washing it. Disappointed with this price and hope to help at least one person as there are so many rave reviews. I had to stick with my first upgrade option. It's already starting to look dull. I got a blanket from Walmart that I've had for a few months and it's starting to look the same, but it's still soft and thick and it was a lot cheaper. Update: The stitches have come undone and I'm taking good care of him. I only had it a few weeks. Very disappointed. Did I mention it's not actually purple? It's burgundy.
