My six-year-old cat likes certain spots on my couch, so I decided to try CLAWGUARD Cat Training Strips. The strips stick easily and prevent my cat from scratching her favorite spots. But now it only scratches other parts of the sofa besides the tape! In order for them to work effectively, I believe you need to provide another scratching post that looks like the object you want your cat to avoid. My cat has been scratching the same spots for years so it's ingrained in her right now. However, if we started using her when she was little, I think it would definitely put her off more.
