Review on 55" Samsung TV UE55TU8500U 2020 LED, HDR, black by Nguyn Qu Ph (Nhn) ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I recommend to buy, the product is of high quality.

IMHO 8500 is a safe choice. Most likely you will not meet any marriage or light. More precisely, the probability of running into light is less than that of the LG 866/816. However, 50k is a price point where there are still a lot of compromises to be made. Overall satisfied with the purchase. The image is really good if you take the time to calibrate. Even dim HDR content can be adjusted so that the brightness is acceptable, although it is better to look towards OLEDs to view such content. Would rate it 4.5/5. For almost two weeks, several films and series have been watched. If something comes out during a longer operation, I will add a review.

Pros
  • Lack of light is one of the main reasons for buying this particular model. The speed and simplicity of the OS. With all the shortcomings of Tizen, it works smartly, and the interface is very intuitive and simple. For two weeks, once or twice I met minor freezes. Angles. Well, it looks like 180, despite the fact that it is VA. Good image quality. In 90 percent of cases, the picture is excellent. But there are nuances. Nice frameless design. Samsung upscale. Full hd looks good, the difference from 4k is noticeable only from two meters away.
Cons
  • HDR content playback. The whole bummer lies in the dark scenes. Due to a crooked local dimming, when there are no light objects on the screen, the backlight becomes so dim that it becomes impossible to make out anything in a lit room. Moreover, judging by the English-language forums, the same problem occurs in more expensive Samsung models (q60, q70, q80, etc.). It seems like this problem can be solved (through the BIOS or something), there are guides on YouTube. Voice control. More meager functionality is difficult to imagine. This is despite the fact that voice dialing in the YouTube application works fine. Perhaps the fattest cant tizen. Working cases - setting a shutdown timer, switching channels and searching on YouTube. For example, on Android TV, voice search works for all applications, it's super convenient. DTS and AVI. It seems that LG has the same problems with playing these formats. If AVI is no longer in demand, then DTS is a popular audio track format. In general, modern smart TVs are designed for the use of services and licensed content - this is important to consider. Another question is that you may not find absolutely all the desired content on the services (this is especially true for those who like to watch movies and TV shows in the original) There was a problem with the wall mount. Either something was wrong with the screws that came with the bracket, or with the holes in the TV. All in all, it's probably worth considering.
