It smelled strange when opened, disgusting sweet fishy smell like something died on it, really strange because it didn't look dirty and didn't open. After washing and airing, it is a good case!. The cable works, but only via USB, so you'll need an AC adapter if you want to connect to the wall. The memory card adapter allows you to use a large non-PS Vita memory card (i.e. a regular one) in the game card slot, which is useful as PS Vita memory cards are very expensive. Note, however, that there is a process you must go through to make this work, including a bio-hack (through apps, not a hardware change) to allow you to use the memory in the game card slot. The process is doable and there are videos to show you step by step, but if you'd rather avoid all of that, just get a PS Vita memory card.
