This is not a free motion quilting foot. You will break the needle if you try to use this for FMQ. The presser foot slides back and forth when attached to the sewing machine. I caught this right away and was afraid the needle would hit my foot as I was sewing, but being new to FMQ and this foot was labeled as such I ignored my instinct that it might not work. I was right. The foot slipped sideways, the needle entered a hard area and I broke the needle. This is a zipper foot. The zipper coils in the center of the zipper rest against the leg, holding it in place and sliding from side to side. This is the only possible use of this foot.
