Fake: Network Adapter

I swear I posted a review about this in February 2019 but it seems gone to be. Here it is again. I thought this card was very profitable, but then I found out it was fake. There are stickers with MAC address and serial number on the back of the box and on the bottom of the adapter. None of them matched. At first I thought it was just a packaging mix-up. And then my computer told me something else. The actual MAC address had nothing to do with the one on either sticker. Not only did it not even report that it was a valid Alfa MAC address. (or any legitimate manufacturer). As others have said, this card falls short of the advertised 28dB. The maximum level is 20 dB. Worse, it appears like a regular Atheros map with lots of general information passed to the kernel. On the plus side, it has an Atheros chipset, but it also seems to turn off randomly. This is not a power management issue. It just turns off or hangs. I have not yet contacted the seller or Amazon for a refund but will do so soon. Unless that seller can somehow magically issue a real alpha card in return.
