Review on Westinghouse Lighting 75053 14 Inch Picture by Brett Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It took a few simple tweaks but I like it.

When I entered the search term "image light", I pointed to the LED and did not notice that it was an incandescent lamp when it came on. So I was a bit surprised when it arrived with two 15 watt bulbs. I kept it anyway, but those bulbs and fixture get very hot. So I ordered a set of three Rayhoo E12 Base LED bulbs (16.99 minus $3.40 promotional discount). These are 4w led bulbs, a bit larger than the ones supplied but they fit really well. The total power consumption is reduced from 30W to 8W and the bulbs do not get hot. Some other reviews also mention the fact that the metal bracket can't be angled down enough, leaving the bulbs too exposed. The little swivel at the end of the mount doesn't really help much. But it's fairly easy to bend the mount down so more light hits the image than the eyes. The two photos show the lamp with the LED bulbs, one before adjustment, the other after bending. For me, the power cord was too short and I had to splice a longer cord to get to the outlet. All in all it's a good device - it's not the manufacturer's fault that Revain's search results were inaccurate; Correcting lamp glare was easy, and most lighting fixtures require a similar adjustment. And I'm sure the cord is long enough for most people, and in many cases an extension will do if it's too short.
