I spent about $700 on a complete air conditioning rebuild in my suburb in 1998. I bought a reconditioned compressor at a very popular auction. After completing the entire system with countless hours, I flushed and filled the system. The pump sounded terrible for the first few minutes of operation. My freon was taken out and I got a replacement pump from the company. After a week of regular driving, the pump exploded, filling my entire system with aluminum slivers. I had to remove and replace the entire air conditioning system again. This time, however, I did it with Delco and Delphi air conditioning parts. It costs a little more, but it's worth it. It works perfectly and I will have a perfectly working air conditioner for years to come. I will definitely spend the money and buy this pump. This is the heart of the system and might cost a bit more, but in the long run it could save me $100 and maybe 12 hours of work.
