These are perfect for counter height in the kitchen. We originally purchased 2 sets (4 chairs), but realized we really only needed one set for the space.Assembly directions are "ok" but you'll need common sense as well. They weren't difficult to assemble, just follow directions closely and use common sense not to force anything into place--i.e. the stabilizing ring--we had to flip it over then it fit nicely into place but the directions don't say that and the piece is not marked as to which way it sets in between the legs.I may have taken about 45 minutes for my husband and I to get 2 chairs set up.
