If you have a cheap record player like those sold under the Crosley and Victrola names, never use it. On less expensive turntables, the weight of this product puts unnecessary stress on the turntable's drive system and can cause damage. We often play records of all shapes and sizes in our studio, but our turntables are QRK commercial turntables. From Bakelite 78 RPM records from the 1940's to newer thick 78 RPM vinyl records, this weight stabilizer works wonders to bring out the finer nuances of the music. We've tried it at 45 and 33 1/3 RPM with equal satisfaction. In fact, the benefits of this weight are best realized on 33 1/3 RPM vinyl. Love it! I did a frequency analysis and blindfold test with my colleagues, many of whom are true music lovers, and they all heard the difference this little piece of metal makes.
