Review on 👶 D-Link HD Wi-Fi Baby Camera: Temperature Sensor, Personalize Audio, 2-Way Talk; Local and Remote Video Baby Monitor App for iPhone and Android (DCS-825L) by Kevin King

I bought this camera with high expectations as it ticks all the boxes we wanted in a new baby camera. When we first received and tested it, we were impressed with the ease of setup and the clarity of the image/video day and night. We then installed it in our children's room and no longer needed to use it functionally until our son was born 3 months later. After using it to extend our viewing time we found that while the camera is great the phone software/app is rubbish! It freezes and loses connection at least 3-5 times a night, which is unacceptable as you rely on this app/camera to notify you when your kid wakes up at night, which it can't do when it freezes or disconnects while you're asleep and then you're stuck with a really pissed off kid screaming out the back hallway until you wake up, rather than hearing the initial commotion on the phone and being able to take care of things before they do escalate. I've tried the camera in different rooms/areas of the house and also my phone in different/areas and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Some nights are fine and the camera works all night with no issues (few and rare) while other nights it freezes or fails every 5 minutes. Since you can't plan what night it will be we have to use our old sound monitor (from our first child 5 years ago) as a backup which is ridiculous considering we just spent over $100 on a monitor. new monitor so we don't have to use the old one! Also, some other features of the app will not work properly when the app actually connects. The ability to "turn off" background noise doesn't work and a terrible 3-5 second lag in everything you do. The camera also tends to make noises in the baby's room as it "pans and tilts", causing the baby to wake up :/ (bug!). I think if the software could be updated to make it work consistently this could be a really great camera. Until we have a $100 paperweight that "works" less than 50% of the time. do yourself a favor Kids are enough stress, don't add the stress of working with this camera!
