Review on ๐Ÿšฝ TOTO TSU99A.X Adjustable Fill Valve Assembly for Toilet Tanks - Unfinished (Replacement) by Troy Boren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent replacement for the original block

Our original Toto inflation valve recently became completely blocked and has not stopped working. This complex assembly had a screw adjuster and a flip-down locking head, which seems overly complicated and a common mistake. I was skeptical about using a generic replacement so I opted for the Toto version over Korky or generic (which I'm sure works great at a lower price too). The instructions were fine, basically rotate the device to unlock it, set it to the correct height (number of slots) listed in the attached table and rotate again to lock . Then insert the security tab to strengthen the security of the lock. Install the valve in the tank, connect the water supply line and hose, and set the filling scale. It is this last part that is not well explained or shown in the instructions. Basically, there is a dial on the top of the valve that is used to adjust the amount of water to fill the tank. You have to close it all the way, then use that weird star-shaped plastic "key" with a set of numbered lugs, insert the correct numbered lug (again using the attached chart) into the gap on the side of the dial, and rotate the dial to open until the gap is the same wide tongue. I don't think there is a better way given how sensitive the size of the gap is (different lugs are very similar in size), but it just wasn't explained well. I like that the new unit is quieter than the old one and a bit faster as at full flow it seems to fill up very much before shutting off while the old one seemed to drip slower as it hit the shut off mark. I wish I had done this update sooner.
