Review on πŸ¦… Eagle Creek Black Wallaby Pack-It Organizer for Efficient Packing by Yolanda Hardison

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Large for carry-on but perfect if you're checking a bag and going on a longer trip. The transparent plastic case is a little flimsy.

I bought this because The Wirecutter recommended it as the best organizer for travel items. I agree it's a pretty good organizer when you check out the bag. I already have a small toiletries organizer that I use when I fly and take short trips that only holds a few 3-ounce bottles, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a razor, but I'm now starting to take longer trips quite often (ten days to two weeks) on business trips (about 5 months a year away from home) and I need larger equipment. A few other reviewers have commented on how big this kit is and it's very large if you're just packing a holdall, but for me it comes in a registered bag and fits enough to last two weeks. There is nothing worse than buying toiletries when traveling and it saves me the hassle of doing so. I like that this set has nice big pockets. I bought several 8 ounce plastic bottles for my soap and shampoo which fit perfectly in my bags (see photo). The third large sachet is the perfect combination of my cleanser and a 3 ounce tube of shaving cream. There is a small mirror on top of the set. To be honest I've never used it because it's very small, but if you're really desperate I think it might work. It would probably be better to take it out to use it. There is a large mesh pocket behind the mirror. This is where I keep: - a scrubber - a washcloth - 2 shaving cartridges in a small secure plastic case - a small suede cloth to wipe in an emergency - some lip balm - the main pocket is good, it has a good zip and some mesh for breathability so you can put it in there can accommodate wet things and they didn't get too uncomfortable. I still prefer to dry my items before packing, but this is not always possible. The last pocket is transparent, detachable at the bottom. I have no idea why it's detachable, I think it could be put in your carry-on and the rest of the kit could be put in your checked baggage. I personally wouldn't do this as the clear plastic isn't very durable. My razor has a few holes in it from a small plastic tip that protrudes from the handle of my Gillette Fusion razor when the blade cartridge is not attached. This little piece of plastic pulls into the handle with ease, so the plastic must be pretty flimsy to be damaged. plus a travel toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste. I no longer keep my razor handle in this piece, it now fits in the main pocket next to one of the white soap bottles. Loops in pocket for easy storage so it won't get snagged on things. Overall: This is a good kit if you're going to be traveling for any length of time and are either checking your bag or not flying. It's not ideal if you're only traveling with hand luggage. Note. Although I review the bag when I use this one, the bag I am reviewing is a Pelican Suitcase on Wheels (1510-000-110) which is theoretically small enough to be used as carry-on. Although this toiletry holder is large, it's still small enough to fit in a travel bag with all my clothes.
