Review on 🚴 Topeak Modula Cage EX Adjustable Water Bottle Cage with Modified Shape for Bicycles by Ruben Saunders

Works ok for road use

I use Camelbak Podium bottles with cages installed on my MTB fork and based on the reviews I decided to give it a try. I often wrap a layer of duct tape around my bottles to give them extra friction - I can work harder to get my bottle out of the cage, but I don't want them flying out when driving over uneven ground. I was drawn to both the adjustable feature and the engineering plastic; I figured if it loosens I could tighten the clamp and everything would be fine. Unfortunately this is not really the case. When I put a bottle of Camelbak Podium in, the bottle "sagged" outward from the flexing of the plastic. Tightening the 'grip' just meant the upper flexed outward more rather than actually pushing it harder, and loosening it didn't help either. If you bounce the bike a few times, the bottles will eject almost constantly on the 2nd or 3rd impact. Even when he was pretty pinned down on the first impact, he would shift and on the second impact he would constantly fly out. After the honeymoon, for the first month or so, I was losing bottles every day. I would say this cage is better for road use but I tried it on my road bike and even then the bottles were still being thrown away. bottle holder. Given that this is a fairly heavy cage compared to other cages available, I really don't see why you would want that unless you only ride in spots where there are absolutely no bumps. Overall, this was a really disappointing purchase, but I'll happily admit that it's entirely possible it has something to do with the Camelbak Podium 21oz water bottle. So if you use smaller bottle cages it might work a little. better.
