. We used it to teach our giant pup to swim and it worked well in that regard. He uses huge velcro straps on his chest and abdomen, as well as plastic buckles; it was a snug fit (XL, 80 pounds) and he seemed comfortable in it. The only bad thing was we were tied together and when he got out of the water and pulled on the beach the line caught on the corner of the dock and ripped the D-hook right off the vest. This probably wouldn't have happened in the water and it actually came off clean and didn't affect the overall integrity of the vest at all.
