Review on ⚡️ Schumacher Solar Charge Controller 12V - Optimize Lead-Acid Batteries and Solar Panel Performance by Gus Gutierrez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

lasted 2 weeks. - Solar and wind power

For those new to solar panels and charge controllers, not all panels have the same polarity. There is no industry standard. Each brand decides for itself which way to go and makes accessories for its panel. For example, a Coleman solar panel accessory may not work with a Schumacher accessory. This Schumacher charge controller has an easy way to deal with this: if the polarity is reversed for your particular panel, simply unscrew the back and swap your chosen pins. A $10 40W soldering iron will do the job. You can also buy adapters and don't have to solder anything. It's good to have a charge controller with pins attached instead of say the Battery Tender controller (which is much better). This charge controller will keep your battery in the 13-14.5 volt range. It just toggles on and off throughout the day, and the Battery Tender Controller maintains a steady 13.2 throughout the day. For the money this charge controller is fine as long as it works. Can't comment on durability yet as I haven't had it that long, but I'll change my rating if it dies prematurely. UPDATE: It only lasted 2 weeks before it stopped automatically charging the battery at low voltage. Stick with the Battery Tender charge controller, it's better.
