I use retinoids all the time so my skin is quite tolerant. I had no sensitivity problems while taking Dr. Various VITALIFT-A Forte with retina. It comes in a small tube and contains a very small line of products. I love it as this moisturizer is very expensive so I don't want to overspend. I used it at night but only on my problem areas because it's so expensive. I apply it around my mouth and eyes and on my forehead. It's great for overnight hydration - the areas I applied it to the night before are very soft and smooth. First class ingredients. In addition to retinal, there is squalane, hyaluronic acid, ceramide NP and tocopherol. What They Do:‣Antioxidant: Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol‣Cell Binding Ingredient: Retinal (0.1%), Adenosine‣Skin-Identical Ingredient: Glycerin, Squalane, Cholesterol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide NP‣Moisturizers/Moisturizers: Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate , Polyglutamic acid Why retinal instead of retinol? First, tretinoin is the leader of the retinoid family. It's retinoic acid, something your skin can use. Retinol (with the letter O) must be converted to retinoic acid in the skin in two steps. However, our skin isn't always good at converting it, so we don't always get all the retinoic acid we expect from conversion. Retinal (with the letter A) is just one step away from retinoic acid. Thus, it only takes one step to become active in the skin and our skin can metabolize much more efficiently at this level.
