Review on Diablo D1050X Combination Saw Blade by Jarod Berthelson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A dependable performer, suitable for power tools and hand tools

This is a mid-range saw blade that far outperforms the $29.99 two you'll find at major retailers. with sparse carbide tips suitable for weekend carpenters but can only be considered disposable knives in a professional carpentry shop. You will not throw away the Freud D1050X Diablo saw blade for some time after you have bought it, as it will give you many years of pleasure. Like all well-designed Freud products I've used, the blade works great. I particularly like the cuts it makes in plywood, where the thin kerf makes it easier for the blade to cut through the material, saving some width of material with each cut (which may or may not make a difference between transitioning to a different panel , serious caution using say 3/4-inch walnut plywood for about $120 a panel) and produces less sawdust. Not that speed is an advantage around dangerous equipment, but this blade cuts through plywood with significantly less effort - faster - than thicker blades. It could also be the result of a coating that prevents resin from building up on the blade. It also seems calmer. However, this is not an ideal blade for thick, hard wood, which will cut more effectively with a thicker blade. like Forrest's. But if you can't afford to buy a high-end blade and don't want to risk using cheap blades on Home Depot walls and the like, this blade is worth it.
