Review on πŸͺ’ Brickell Men's Hybrid Glide Pre Shave Oil: Natural & Organic Irritation-Free Smooth Shave, 2oz, Scented by Sonia Hills

Works as advertised but increases the hassle of an electric shave

First off, Brickell makes great products and I think that's no exception in certain circumstances. Applying the oil as directed makes an excellent shaving base, with or without shaving cream/gel. I started with oil and progressed to a standing electric razor with my Philips OneBlade. It definitely creates a smoother and more comfortable feel compared to the norm, especially in areas where my beard is thickening. The biggest issue I had was that while this does moisturize the skin and make the shave smoother, if you oil the hair you are shaving then it starts to build up on your razor instead of heading into the sink fall instead of falling down. With a regular razor this is quite normal due to the shaving cream/gel but I don't usually experience it when using the OneBlade to remove stubble. This meant I had to stop several times during the shave to clean the electric shaver head before continuing. It also made the final cleaning a little messier as the hairs weren't dry and were easy to pick up and dispose of, instead sticking to the sink/countertop. So yes, it's safe to use with an electric shaver, but it's also a bit of a hassle during and after shaving, and for the price, I don't know if it's worth the trade-off compared to my usual shaving method I'd stop with the OneBlade before shaving as usual with a manual razor and shaving cream/gel, then use a good aftershave to moisturize and cleanse the skin after the shave. If I ever only used this with my manual shave it would be great, but at that point I didn't have much of an advantage over shaving cream/gel.

Pros
  • What it does: This natural and organic men's pre-shave oil uses lightweight, non-greasy oils to prep the beard for razor contact and create a protective barrier. Vitamins and minerals penetrate the skin, repairing it even before the blade touches the skin, helping to condition the skin and shave without irritation, bumps or redness.
