I am an ASE certified car and heavy truck repair technician. I ran an experiment and would like to share my findings. First I drive a 1997 Buick Park Avenue. I overhauled the engine and it works fantastic. He then triggered the check engine light with the code "Random Miss." Decided to replace all coils. It didn't fix CEL. I then decided to replace the ignition control module with one of the cheap ones you can find online. My car barely started or steered. I removed and replaced it with a real GM and all issues were resolved. When it comes to automotive electronics, I highly recommend you spend the extra money on an OEM part.
