Best in class - that's why

[NOTE] At the time of writing this this device has only been on the market since December 2016 and reviews for 3 completely different models have been mixed. To be clear, this review is ONLY for the AcuRite Pro AcuRite 01083M Pro Accuracy Temperature & Humidity Monitor LIKES1. Small physical size but large, easy-to-read main displays2. Well-designed hanging hole plus 2 strong magnets. There is NO fold-out easel stand, but the wide, flat base allows it to stand up fairly well3. Installation controls are not too complicated4. Smaller digital display of temperature and humidity history. Temperature of the last 24 hours, humidity switchable for the last 24 hours or the service life (before changing the battery, then reset).5. The comfort zone scale is somewhat useful and easy to understand. NOT THAT NICE. The largest display shows the humidity and the smaller shows the temperature. Some people, myself included, would rather turn them upside down. It wouldn't cost them anything to make it a customization option, it doesn't make sense why the designers didn't figure it out. Please note that there is no clock function, visible or not. This means that you cannot select when the 24-hour cycle for recording the daily high and low starts/ends. For example, if you insert the batteries at 3:48 p.m., a 24-hour recording cycle begins. You can fool the design by waiting until midnight to put the batteries in if you want to know the history of the true 24 hour cycle. For my purpose of controlling room temperature and having a "comfortable" humidity level in my bedroom none of this mattered, I bought this because it was exactly what I needed. A PRECISION thermometer is useless if it's not accurate. Unfortunately, the vast majority of thermometers produced today are pure junk, sometimes not even remotely accurate. And moisture meters can be even worse. This one out of the box was fine if you're not picky, but it showed a couple of degrees for both temperature and humidity. That's something you'll have to live with for most products in this price range, but the good news is that this model lets you fine-tune your temperature and humidity readings by calibrating them with a known-accurate device. Once calibrated, the AcuRite Pro stopped working, at least until the batteries had to be replaced.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Protection
