Review on Enhanced Resolution Preamplifier - Micca OriGen G2 by Josh Suter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outstanding sound and quality!

I'm testing the OriGen G2 on a MacPro 2016/Mojave with a Samson SR850/32ohm kit (cheap but incredible headphones) and the Boom app for iOS. I used SYBA SD-DAC63057 24bit/96KHz before but decided to get a better DAC. I did a lot of research and decided between OriGen G2, Fiio K3 and Schiit Fulla 2. I haven't tried the other two, but I'm very happy with the first impressions of the OriGen G2. In terms of quality, this thing is built to last. Beautiful construction and finish. It feels solid. I plugged it in, no drivers or anything, just a reboot and it was recognized. I pierced the midi to instantly switch to 24/96kHz as that's how my music is recorded. You have many options: 44.1, 48.0, 88.2, 96.0, 176.4 and 192.0 kHz in 2 channels 16/24/32 bit. When I listen to a few songs with Samson's 32 ohm headphones, I hear all the details I've never heard before. You. It's like a window that's just opened to a place I haven't had access to before. Wow! The GAIN option does not need to be used as there is enough power to drive headphones with an impedance of 32 ohms. I'm pretty sure you can use other higher impedance headphones, say 80 or 250. But if you have 32, crank this thing up to maximum volume and your ears will explode. I will test it with my other headsets, the ATH-M50x, but they are also 32ohm impedance and should provide a good experience. I also kept an eye on the Fulla 2 due to its higher power output should I go with higher impedance headsets, but was turned down due to many quality issues I read about in other reviews and the choice of internal components. But then again, I'm sure the OriGen G2 will do well in this case too. I am very satisfied with my choice and can fully recommend this DAC. Now back to hear more songs.
