Rubber mallet saves lives!
So I ordered it despite the reviews that the holes didn't match. You're right. The holes are slightly offset and none of the parts are marked "A", "B", "C" as shown in the instructions. I was able to adjust my fit with a rubber mallet. This caused paint to peel off the edges of the box, but not too badly. If you plan to put them together to create a customized shelf, be aware that it will be very difficult to take them apart afterwards. So the design you have chosen is most likely glued to it.
