I received a rear view phone mount. Installation is fairly easy as the only parts it includes are the brackets that attach to the rear view mirror (including a short gooseneck that connects to a ball joint with a magnet) and a pair of metal plates (one small and one small ). larger) to attach to the phone. You attach the bracket to the rearview mirror, then attach the metal plate to the phone and attach the phone to the bracket. In theory, that should be pretty much all, and the concept is great and admirable. However, the implementation is anything but satisfactory. The phone mount has two settings, one for the height of the hook that goes over the mirror, top to bottom (to accommodate taller or shorter mirrors) and another for front and back (to accommodate mirrors of different thicknesses). The top-down adjustment is done with a lever, which you use to loosen the two handles holding the mirror, then clamp them securely over the mirror, then move the lever to the locked position. This prevents mirror height misalignment. Unfortunately, there is no such fixed lock for adjusting the thickness of the mirror. It's just a ratchet slider that seems secure at first. However, every time I try to remove my phone from the holder, the magnetic holder is so strong that there is no way to prevent the phone holder from breaking. And that ratchet closure is the first thing to give way. This almost always results in the mirror thickness adjustment becoming loose and I have to spend the next 30 seconds reattaching the phone mount to the mirror by adjusting the ratchet. Otherwise, the phone holder will fall off the mirror when you put your phone in it next time. Worse, sometimes the mirror itself will change position as you try to juggle the phone, mount, and everything else while trying to get the phone out of the mount. The idea is good, but the execution is fatal. If the mirror thickness adjustment was designed with a different lever that didn't allow the clamps to move freely without releasing it, everything would be fine. Due to the difficulty of attaching this mount (like having to reinstall the mount every time I take my phone off it) I will be returning this item. The search for a suitable rear view mount continues.
