After receiving an offer to install a remote start in the $300+ range, I decided to do it myself. I'm quite a skilled guy and used to do car wiring. The most important thing is to do your research beforehand and plan all connections. I installed this on a 2008 Mercury Mariner Premier. Installation instructions can be found online with a simple Google search. I used alldata.com to get my car's schematics and connector locations. I used an Avital 4103LX remote starter. It took a few hours of prep work to tie up wires I don't need and make connections between the remote starter and the bypass. The actual installation took a good 6 hours in total. Programming took a maximum of 5 minutes. If you can solder, have access and can read electrical schematics then this is definitely a doable project. The bypass works great and I programmed it on the first try. You need two working keys to program this device, but you do not have to leave one in the device. The price can't be lower!
