Great ordering experience with Prime. The package arrived, I went to the fitlet2 wiki and downloaded the PDF with the installation instructions. I have already used a FC PCI card in fitlet2 to use a 2280 M.2 SSD. Moved the SSD to the new card, swapped the cards, connected the power cable from the PoE card to the MB connector and reassembled the case. Ready. Very simple, no problems. Do this using a Unifi 8-port PoE+ switch. The switch shows a power consumption of approx. 6.5 W when the fitlet2 is idle. By the way, the instructions seem to indicate the wrong screw hole for attaching the PoE board to the motherboard. Although it is clear what to do. Don't deduct a star for that. As others have pointed out, fitlet2 runs significantly hotter with a PoE board. 108F in the center of the base plate vs. 95F. Upper temperatures are less variable: 105F vs. 101F. Incidentally, this was not a very well-controlled experiment. Your mileage may vary. But it should be a decent indicator of temperature changes while PoE is running. All in all a very well designed board. The mechanical design of the Fitlet2 is pretty neat. The perfect board to launch the Headless Fitlet2 with a single cable.
